Lor-e Phillips Industries began in 1996 with a collection of handbags and accessories that were successfully sold over the Internet. In 1997, Lor-e designed a hollow, transparent, fillable platform shoe that was featured on the Paramount Pictures TV show Clueless. Soon other designs and items began popping up on popular television shows, which created a buzz amongst the young, hip fashionistas. By popular demand, Lor-e officially debuted her first line at the 1999 MAGIC Clothing Convention in Las Vegas and soon Lor-e Phillips designs were sold around the country.
Lor-e‘s keen eye for design was not exclusive to shoes and accessories. Her unique sense of color and pattern combinations lead a friend to ask for her help with decorating her home. Before the project was completed, several other requests came in which lead her down the path to interior design. Her distinctive, hip yet classic approach can be found in recording studios, dressing rooms, and homes of key players in the music and entertainment industry today.
Currently, she has been designing and styling for the television, motion picture and music industry. Lor-e has recently teamed up with Black Eyed Peas’ front man Will.i.am to design and launch their new line called “i.am,” (www.iamclothing.net) currently available exclusively at “Traffic” boutiques. In fact, in 2004 an outfit designed by Lor-e—worn by Will.i.am of Black Eyed Peas—was inducted into the Rock n’ Roll hall of Fame museum located in Cleveland, Ohio.
Lor-e still has a love of good shoes and after a pair of her hand painted, custom-designed stilettos were given to Christina Aguilera—who gave them rave reviews and requested more—Lor-e began work on a new line of celebrity-driven custom footwear—currently being sported by the likes of Fergie of Black Eyed Peas and Ashlee Simpson.
Even though she wears many hats in the fashion and design worlds, Lor-e’s favorite hats are the ones she designs for children suffering from cancer. In 2001, Lor-e Phillips founded H.O.P.E.--Helping Others Pursue Excellence—a non-profit organization that donates hats she specially designs for children suffering from the effects of cancer and the treatments they endure. Her goal is to give these children—who often become self-conscious about their physical appearance—a way to feel good about themselves.
Lor-e also has a passion for supporting the arts. In 2002, she founded F.I.N.E.—Fashion Industry Networking Events—a series of parties to gather fashion designers, stylists, photographers, make-up and hair artists and models so that they can network and share their experiences in a non-competitive, relaxed and creative environment.
Recently, you can find her designing the uniforms for the entire staff of the world renound Hard Rock Hotels around the country. The first property containing Lor-e’s designs is scheduled to open in late 2006 in Madrid, Spain.
